It has been a full house over here as the girls and boy visit from Japan. There has been much laughter, visiting, good food and conversation and running about and we are having the time of our life. Here are a few pics….
I am in the midst of jam jam jam! It reminds me of this little book called Jamberry by Bruce Degen. The jams are a mainstay to my pantry and also I love to share them. I have been making jam for my cupboards and also helping some of my friends learn the art. The latest batches have been blueberry jam! So delicious!!!

Can you imagine being completely satiated on fresh Dungeness Crab. Well, let me say that it is one of my favorite ways to be. What a delightful evening, friends sharing in delicious food and great conversation.
I was really busy getting the most out of this opportunity but a few pics were snapped of this marvelous crab feed moment…
I am knitting away on the yellow version of this darling bolero. I have to get them on their way to my girls in Tokyo. I have a picture of the girls in my mind, walking amongst the cherry blossoms an enjoying a picnic in the park. Japan has the most spectacular Spring. The colors of these boleros remind me that this season really is coming. My friend Lily is such a great sport when it comes to modeling my latest project. It really helps me know that the sizes are right when I can see her in one of my creations.
What an assortment of food we had. We made peppermint bark, Yum was the response from my young friend who had great fun unwrapping the peppermint candies, crushing them and and then sprinkling the little jewels on top of the melted chocolate. The big pot of winter soup bubbled away while the fresh herbs dried for my herb salt mixture that has become a main stay in the kitchen.
So there you have it, a day in my life.
I finished the creamy yellow cashmerino throw that I have been working on. It is one of the special orders I got this last year. I had done a beige cashmerino throw for my home that is always right near me as I sit and knit on my favorite spot by the window. It is a beautiful throw that takes awhile to make but is like an heirloom. Also, I finally downloaded the images from visiting our second cousins this last Christmas. It is nice that they live close enough. She has two sons that I love to knit little gifts for. This year they got hats.
Henry got a striped hat in more of the orange and red tonal range. I was pleased by how the colors went together. You never know if it will be hit or miss in design.
Reed, the younger boy, got a blue hat with a blue-on-blue checked design. I had made one in a black and red version. They looked darling on the boys and that of course makes me and the mamas happy.
This of course gives me the opportunity to start on my next knitting project and on a beautiful sunny winter day nothing could make me happier. The boys [my husband, and my dog Rico] are having a nice mellow day too. What more can you ask?
